Get Ready Campers

Check out our courses and prepare your camper to join us this summer!

It's time to shape the hero you'll become. Through our activities we'll help you get started ahead of the first day of camp! Let the adventure begin!

Come Up With A Character Idea

1. Explore the site

Learn more about the world that your character will be living in. Explore the site pages using the navigation bar in the footer to learn more. If you have any questions please reach out!

2. Think Of An Archetype

One great way to start thinking of a character is to think of some sort of archetype you want your character to fit into. Whether it is something as simple as the nerd or jock, or if you want to get wild with it with something off the walls like an Elvis impersonator or a Dr. Dolittle type, finding a trope can help provide a base to build the rest of your character around.

3. Explore Their Connections

Think about who matters to them and why? Are they close with their family, do they have siblings? Do they know anyone at camp (check the our people page) or are they new to camp and hoping to make friends? Do they have any role models that they want to be more like?

4. Explore Their Flaws

No hero starts off perfect! Allow your character some room for growth and shenanigans by giving them some flaws. Are they overly attached to a comfort item? Maybe they can't help but rush into trouble without taking a moment to think first. Do they have a habit of lying, stealing, or some other bad quirk?

5. Let's Talk

Once you have a general idea for what you want your character to look like, we'll meet up and discuss your character to help cement their backstory, figure out what DnD class & race fits them best, and get more of the technical steps taken care of.

Session 0

Once I have had a chance to talk through with everyone their character ideas, we'll meet up for our session 0. This is just a chance to go over some basics, allowing us to go over how DnD rules work, set up some safety tools to ensure everyone is always having fun and comfortable as we play, and align some backstories between everyone.

Next Steps

If you are ready to talk about your character shoot me a text and we'll find some time to meet up and cement down some details!
